Healthier Baked Paleo Fish And Chips
Holy heck you guys, if you grew up on fish & chips like me you will love these! I am from PEI so loving seafood is kind of in my blood. These are rich & crispy on the outside, with a warm juicy haddock fillet cooked to perfection on the inside. Served with some tangy fresh tartar sauce & a squeeze of lemon juice this meal is perfect for the warmer months quickly approaching!
What to pair with paleo fish And chips
I paired this baked paleo fish with, you guessed it, chips! I used sweet potatoes here for my chips. I followed my recipe for perfectly crispy fries but simply swapped the regular potatoes with some sweet potatoes. You can find all the info for that here.
I also paired the fish and chips with a fresh Caesar salad using an easy homemade caesar dressing. This dressing was insane. It tastes so authentic but was whipped up in 2 minutes. You can find that recipe here (in the caption of the post).

Ingredients you will need for these paleo fish and chips:
Baked Fish
- Avocado oil
- Almond flour (you made need 1/4-1/2 cup more depending on the size of your fish)
- Tapioca flour (or 2 tbsp coconut flour for a lower carb option)
- Pink salt
- Haddock fillets (you can also use salmon as well)
- Optional: spices (garlic, onion powder, etc.), I omitted spices & they were still delicious
Crispy Sweet Potato Fries
- I used this method but with sweet potatoes
Caesar Salad Dressing

How to store these fish and chips?
I can’t really answer this because every time I made this recipe while testing it, we didn’t have any leftovers! But you can definitely store the fish & chips in an air-sealed container in the fridge. However, they likely won’t be crispy the next day but they will still be delicious!
I also love to make a batch homemade dressing of some sort for salads in the upcoming week. I stored the Caesar dressing in a mason jar & it was perfect to have on hand for fresh Caesar salads all week long!
How to make the fish and chips
I actually share two ways that you can prepare the fish for these fish and chips. One way is in the oven & the other in an air-fryer. I love my air-fryer & find it gives everything a nice crisp during baking, however, these can be made just as good in the oven as well! So if you don’t have an air-fryer you can still get in on the paleo fish & chip action!
My next attempt at this recipe is to try frying the fish in some avocado oil. I did this with my paleo popcorn chicken & it was so good! Can get a little messy, but such a fun treat. That recipe has a baked & fried version.

Description
These paleo fish and chips are perfectly crisp on the outside, takes minutes to prep & goes perfectly with tangy tartar sauce & crispy sweet potato fries!
Ingredients
Baked Fish
- 1–2 tbsp avocado oil
- 3/4 cup almond flour (you may need 1/4–1/2 cup more depending on the size of your fish)
- 1/4 cup tapioca flour (or 2 tbsp coconut flour for a lower carb option)
- 1/2 tsp pink salt
- 4 large haddock fillets (you can also use salmon as well)
- optional: spices (garlic, onion powder, etc.), I omitted spices & they were still delicious
Crispy Sweet Potato Fries
- I used this method but with sweet potatoes
Caesar Salad Dressing
- recipe in the caption of this post (it is so easy & incredibly delicious)
Instructions
Baked Fish
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper & set aside.
- Mix the almond flour, tapioca flour, pink salt, & spices (if using) together in a shallow dish & set aside.
- Coat the fish in 1-2 tbsp of avocado oil.
- Then place the fish in the almond flour mixture & place on the baking tray (*see notes for air fryer method).
- Finish coating & evenly spreading the fish onto the baking sheet.
- Place in the oven, baking until the fish is thoroughly cooked, flipping halfway, until the coating is slightly browned. This took mine about 20 minutes (baking times will vary depending on size of the fish & your oven so keep an eye on them).
- Remove from oven, let cool & serve with crispy sweet potato fries & fresh Caesar salad. Enjoy!
Notes
*To prepare these in the air fryer, I like to spray a bit of cooking spray on the basket to prevent sticking. I evenly spread the prepped fish sticks into the air fryer basket. I set mine to 400 degrees F & bake until the fish is well done, flipping once when they looked slightly browned. Check them regularly as cooking times may vary depending on your oven.
